With what started out as a lockdown project, YouTuber & former Soccer AM star Robbie Knox and "some bloke called Mike" have turned brewing with pre-made beer kits in a Wickes kitchen, into a fully fledged professional brewing company all within 12 months. Not only that, their beer is actually pretty good.

Bin Day IPA
The Bin Day brewing story started in the summer of 2020, with Robbie Knox giving his hand at home brewing, using one of those 'beer making kits', the kind that your Uncle thinks would be a great Christmas gift because you mentioned craft beer once. Attempting to imitate BrewDog's Elvis Juice, Robbie hired the trained palate of comedian Lloyd Griffith to judge his creation, with great success as Lloyd favoured Robbie's, and Bin Day's first, home brew.
With an abundance of positive feedback from Robbie's content creator pals, and some nice comments on his YouTube video, brew day number two was on the horizon, with Robbie looking to iron out the small issue of exploding bottles this time around. Selflessly, home-brew powerhouse Simon Pipola gifted Robbie some superior brewing equipment to, hopefully, improve Bin Day IPA 2.0. This time, employing the help of real trained palates, Robbie takes his newest creation to Docks Beers, which impressed Shaz and Lewis so much, Robbie was invited back. But this time, Bin Day would be creating their first commercial beer, meaning fans could finally get their hands on a Bin Day beer.
Gypsy Brewers
Having only brewed a total of 2 beers in their short history, Bin Day would start their professional brewing tale as gypsy brewers, lending the expertise and facilities of other, more established breweries. The first being Grimsby's own Docks Beers. With Robbie and co aiming for a tropical inspired pale ale, they utilise the exotic flavour profiles brought to the table by hops: Amarillo; Chinook and Styrian Wolf, a Slovenian hop variety not often used which brings floral notes as well as a dominant mango flavour, all propped up by a solid biscuity malt base, with the addition of orange zest only reinforcing the overpowering citrus bite brought to the fore by the hop additions.
Already boasting a well-founded audience on YouTube, Robbie Knox's Bin Day didn't have the obstructions that a normal new micro-brewery would have, which would be to break into the market and build a customer base. Without the need to spend capital on marketing the beer, having over 100k subscribers to sell to, it's no surprise that Bin Day's first white-collar beer was a hit, selling out within days of release. With the success of Valencian Tip Run, it's little wonder that other established breweries wanted in, with Bin Day collaborating with County Durham's S43 to produce two pale ales, and more recently travelling over to Norway to brew a Mexican style lager with craft beer royalty, Lervig.
It's apparent that Bin Day has been a stroke of marketing genius, with Robbie capitalising on his already founded audience to fuel a monstrous rise in such a short time. Having already brewed with established and world renowned Lervig, surely the next step for Bin Day would be to open their very own commercial brewery space, and hopefully a taproom to boot, and put their new-founded knowledge of brewing quality beer to use.
